The Lacroix Laboratory

Molecular bases of mechanotransduction
Home: Welcome
Research interests
Mechanosensitive PIEZO ion channels transduce various types of biomechanical stress in animal and plants (e.g., blood pressure, compression, fluid flow, stretch, etc...). These proteins are essential to numerous physiological processes and constiute promising drug target to treat pain, arthritis, blood diseases and others ailments. Our lab deploys modern research tools to pinpoint molecular mechanisms by which these fascinating - yet mysterious - proteins achieve their functions. We also leverage this knowledge to design novel pharmacological modulators with translational values.
